Head of Department’s
Message
Dear Students and
Esteemed Stakeholders,
As the Department of Finance, Banking and
Insurance, providing strong vocational education is our primary priority in
today’s environment where financial markets are developing, banking is
digitalizing, and risk management is gaining importance in the insurance
sector. Our aim is to educate qualified individuals who are committed to
knowledge and ethical values, capable of analytical thinking, and open to
innovation. In this regard, we are committed to raising students who can adapt
to change and anticipate the expectations of the sector.
Our educational approach is based on a
student-centered model that integrates theoretical knowledge with practice. Our
curriculum covers core areas such as banking, insurance, economics, accounting,
law, commercial mathematics, statistics, financial management, and investment
analysis, as well as courses such as teamwork, entrepreneurship, and marketing
that enhance our students’ professional qualifications. Course contents are
regularly updated in alignment with technological and sectoral developments in
the financial system. In addition, our curriculum is periodically reviewed
through collaborations with industry representatives and stakeholders. Thus,
our students are aimed to be prepared not only for current sectoral conditions
but also for the financial ecosystem of the future. In addition to professional
competencies, fostering a sustainability perspective and a culture of lifelong
learning is among our priorities.
Our learning environment is built upon a friendly
and disciplined academic climate. Open communication, mutual respect, and a
sense of academic responsibility create a strong sense of belonging. We also
attach importance to supporting academic development through social and cultural
activities. We observe that this approach strengthens not only our students’
professional competencies but also their self-confidence, cooperation skills,
and sense of institutional commitment. We believe that quality education and
strong communication are decisive in building a solid future in the financial
sector.
Our academic advising system is carried out with
a focus on effectiveness while ensuring continuous accessibility. Within this
framework, emphasis is placed on individual career planning and social life
productivity. Through organized activities, our students come together with
representatives of the business world and gain the opportunity to closely
understand sectoral dynamics. This interaction is considered an important
factor that strengthens the employability of our graduates.
It is of great importance that prospective students are open to development in the fields of finance, banking, and insurance, capable of adapting to change, and committed to a disciplined work ethic. Accordingly, we continuously support our educational processes with a strong academic infrastructure and up-to-date sector knowledge. In addition to the scientific studies conducted by our faculty members, sectoral developments are closely monitored and the knowledge gained is reflected in course content. As Benjamin Franklin stated, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” With this understanding, we look forward to welcoming prospective students who aim to share success and contribute to sectoral development.
Best Regards
Lecturer Merve GÜRSOY
